Hello.
I'm Laura Dawn
I am a full-time nomad, writer and speaker who left my corporate job in 2017 for what I thought was three-month career break. What I discovered on my journey changed me and my life forever. Join me on the road, sea and trail for an intentional journey of being FULLY alive in a life in motion.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------Some journeys in life change you in unpredictable ways.
When I started this journey in 2017, I was recently divorced, between jobs, and without pets for the first time in my adult life. At first I thought I would take a career break, but what I discovered was a way of life that made me feel more alive and present than ever before. Suddenly my former life made no sense to me, and my things and home began to feel constraining.
Against the advice of nearly everyone, I gave up my permanent home, donated my stuff, and made "space" in my life to be able to say YES to the next opportunity. Within two months I was sailing as crew aboard a 40 foot sailing vessel from San Diego to Costa Rica. From there I joined the Peace Corps and spent time in Namibia, before returning to sailing, this time in the Mediterranean. Over the next five years I traveled by boat, van and foot (via a backpack and hostels) and experienced Nomad life in Mongolia, Nepal, Australia, New Zealand, Ecuador, Panama, China, and all throughout Europe, and more. None of this would have been possible without the nomad hacks I learned along the way.
But even more importantly, on this journey I found so many pieces of myself that I had unknowingly misplaced along the way. And I realized that that BECOMING NOMAD is more of a way of living and a way of being in the world that is just the beginning of transformational life.
On this site, we will explore together the subtle and not so subtle changes within that happen over time on the Nomad lifestyle. And we will share some beautiful Nomad hacks that make this lifestyle affordable and deeply meaningful.
Namaste, and enjoy your journey. Thanks for being here.
